2009 AESD Conference

The 2009 AESD Conference “Beyond the Blues,” hosted by ESD 123, was held April 16-19 in Walla Walla at the Marcus Whitman Hotel.  This quality conference was well attended by ESD Board members and staff.  Many of those who attended shared their experience and expertise as presenters.

2008 AESA Conference

The 2008 AESA Conference was held December 3-6, 2008, in Phoenix, Arizona. 2008 AESA President Dr. Bob Witten emphasized, "There are many exciting initiatives underway in American education, and educational service agencies (ESAs) are at the forefront of most of them. ESAs are the engines that drive educational progress."

Three dynamic keynote speakers, Dr. Yong Zhao, Dr. Ruby Payne and Dr. Susan Sciafani, according to Dr. Witten, ". . . offered their individual perspectives on what we must do to promote and maintain the highest educational standards so today's students - and tomorrow's - are able to meet 21st Century Challenges with understanding and confidence."

2008 AESD Conference

The AESD Annual Conference "Soaring to Success: ESD Flight Plan" was held April 24-26 at the Holiday Inn in downtown Everett. Approximately 90 ESD Board members and staff attended this enjoyable conference. Keynote speakers were Andrea Peterson, 2007 National Teacher of the Year from Granite Falls S.D. and George "Pinky" Nelson, a nationally known advocate for science education reform and former NASA space shuttel astronaut. Twyla Barnes honored at AESA Conference

Congratulations go to ESD 112 Superintendent Twyla Barnes, who was honored as the 2007 winner of the Justus A. Prentice Award at the 22nd Annual AESA Conference held November 30—December 2, 2007, in Tampa.
     AESA annually recognizes outstanding accomplishments of contributions to education and to AESA.  Twyla was selected for outstanding contributions through executive leadership in the advancement of regional educational service agency programs at the regional, state and national levels. 2007 AESD Conference "A Taste of Excellence!"

The 2007 AESD Conference was held April 19-21 in the Yakima Convention Center. ESD 105 Superintendent Jane Gutting and her staff hosted an outstanding conference. A photo gallery and conference recap can be found at 2007 AESD Conference.

21st Annual AESA Conference

ESD board members, staff and administrators from all over the nation gathered November 29 through December 2, 2006, in Palm Desert, California, for the 2007 AESA Conference. The conference theme, "Caring and Preparing for the Future" was carried out through an exceptional slate of quality speakers, presenters and workshops.

AESA Executive Director Brian Talbott, his outstanding staff and committee, put together an outstanding conference that built on a foundation of professional growth opportunities aimed exclusively at the needs of ESAs. The conference clearly met and exceeded our expectations and we look forward to the 2007 conference scheduled in Tampa, Florida.

2006 AESD Annual Conference
Reaching for the stars...partnerships for stellar performance

The Kitsap Conference Center in Bremerton was the site of the 2006 AESD Annual Conference, April 20-22. Olympic Educational Service District 114 was delighted to host this year’s conference. A highlight of the conference was the opening keynote message by Erin Gruwell. The North Kitsap Jazz Band, directed by David Dunbar, provided entertainment.

2005
The 2005 conference was held in Post Falls, Idaho, hosted by ESD 101 in Spokane. The conference featured an afternoon cruise, keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and student entertainment from a local high school.
