Hundreds of Educators Return for ESD 123’s DuFour Conference

Nearly 500 educators from school districts across eastern Washington and Oregon had the outstanding opportunity to listen and engage with Professional Learning Communities (PLC) experts Dr. Richard and Rebecca DuFour (shown to the left with Superintendent Bruce Hawkins and staff) on May 5th and 6th in Pasco, WA. ESD 123 was privileged to welcome back the DuFours to present their two-day spring conference “Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s) at Work: Bringing the Big Ideas to Life” at the Pasco TRAC Center.

The Professional Learning Communities at Work™ concept is increasingly recognized as a powerful strategy for sustained and substantive school improvement, and it is emblematic of ESD123’s commitment to host high-quality, regional professional development for our 23 school districts in southeastern Washington.

Participants were able to gain specific, practical, and inspiring strategies for transforming their school or district into a place where all students learn at high levels. The PLC two-day conference delved deep into the three big ideas of a PLC: focusing on learning, building a collaborative culture, and focusing on results.

The return of the DuFour team was a fantastic success for ESD 123, and the collaborative effort of ESD staff was truly emblematic of the organization’s mission of “One Team helping all students realize their dreams and aspirations.”
